José Campos e Matos

José Campos e Matos has been on the National Board of ANJE since January 2017. He is in charge of the North Sector of the Association. He was a member of the governing bodies during the previous electoral mandate (between 2013 and 2017).

He is a partner at CAMACE and STRAIN, both of which are companies working in the engineering consultancy area. He has also worked very closely with GEG, on Civil Engineering projects. He also works with other companies (some stakeholders that came about at UMinho and arising from RDI projects), and with TecMinho. He is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Universidade do Minho and has been a member of the ISISE Research group since 2007, supervising several Master’s and PhD theses, some of which are in the business environment area. He is on several national and international committees and is the head of some of them, such as the IABSE committee on Asset Management and the fib committee on Infrastructure Lifecycle Costs. In addition, he has taken part both in the preparation of proposals and the development of national and international projects. Of note is his involvement as coordinator of the SustIMS project and as chair of the European COST TU 1406 network.

He is a senior member of the Portuguese Engineers Association and a Civil Engineering graduate of Universidade do Porto, in 2002. He got his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Universidade do Porto in 2008 and his PhD in Civil Engineering from Universidade do Minho in 2013. During his career, he has published five books, four chapters in books, ten articles in international magazines, over fifty articles in national and international conferences and several technical reports. He has also been on the scientific committee and organised some national and international conferences.
